I am a disabled Air force veteran with many health complications that make it difficult to work a regular job. I started this page to try to supplement my income. I am married with 2 adult children and 2 dogs, no grandkids yet. I got into painting when I was discharged to deal with the trauma of active duty and it just blossomed from there. I also do other crafting such as crochet, knitting, spinning, model painting and I am sure there are others. I have always had an interest in the arts of all kinds. In high school I was very dedicated to music took as many music classes as I could and learned the piano, clarinet and guitar. When in college I took classes for music appreciation and listening and art history. When I took art history is when I started to grow and learn as an artist, I went to college after active duty. I have found that I prefer the medium of acrylic. I don't like how slow oils dry, but have not been able to get the hang of water color. I guess those are just too wet for me. I have also done some model painting and really enjoy the detail of bringing out the personality of the piece with the paint and what seem like bringing the model to life. I also have a love of gardening and enjoy watch and caring for plants. My dream would be to have a large plot of land here in New Mexico with various animals and a large vegetable garden. I spend most of my days taking care of the house, painting and looking after my dogs. My goal for this site is to be a self sustaining business that can grow with my art.
What do I want to accomplish my art? I want to elicit emotion from the viewer. When I first started my focus was originally abstract, where I would put paint on the canvas expressing my emotions that I was feeling at the time. As my skills have improved, I have moved more to defined subjects and try to express my emotions with increased purpose. I am trying to have the emotions be felt coming from painting for the viewer to not just see. I don’t focus on one specific type of subject. I paint whatever comes to mind at the time, but I really enjoy doing fantasy and landscape. Living in New Mexico gives me plenty of landscape scenery to take as a reference. Fantasy has always been a love of mine, being a geek or nerd and playing tabletop roll playing games and reading fantasy books or watching fantasy movies. I am always learning and growing, will constantly be changing, improving my expressions and work.
